SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Consultant works as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, providing a full range of evidence-based mental health services to patients with behavioral health problems within the school based care setting. As a cooperative team member, the Behavioral Health Consultant assumes responsibility for all aspects of the mental health care of these patients. The Behavioral Health Consultant provides evidence-based treatment consistent with their scope of practice and licensure status. An essential function of the position will be the development and monitoring specific behavior change plans documented in the patient’s Individual Comprehensive Treatment Plan. In addition, the Behavioral Health Consultant will provide mental health education and training to the other members of the Interdisciplinary Treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:
Assessment and Treatment Planning – 75%
- Serve as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, working with primary care providers in diagnosing problems, formulating treatment plans, and evaluating progress.
- Assess clinical status and offer treatment recommendations of patients referred by their primary health care provider.
- Provide evidence-based individual and/or group therapy for patients and their families.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise interns as assigned.
Education and/or Experience: Master’s degree in Social Work.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: BLS Required at hire. State of Michigan – Licensed Master’s Social Worker, State of Michigan Driver’s License
