After Hours Care: 
TBCHS offers 24-hour call availability for questions or health concerns. For after hours care, please call Alpena Regional Medical Center at (989) 356-7390 and ask to speak with the Thunder Bay Community Health Service provider or dentist on call. The provider or dentist will return your call and make recommendations for care based on the symptoms and/or complaints described.

Dental Services

Thunder Bay Community Health Service, Inc. (TBCHS) Atlanta Clinic location provides dental services for adults and children, including hygiene, preventive services, restorative and emergency care. Dental services are also offered in local area schools though our School Based Dental Program supported by the Michigan Department of Community Health Oral Health Program, SEAL! of Approval. In addition, The University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry partners with TBCHS to provide training for third and fourth year dental students. A discount program is offered based on family size and income. Dental Services Include:

Behavioral Health counseling and treatment services are available at all TBCHS locations and several local area schools.

  • Care Coordination with Primary Care Providers and On-Site Substance Abuse Services

Pharmacy Services

A full retail Pharmacy is available at the Atlanta and Onaway Clinic sites open to the public. TBCHS pharmacies accept most major prescription plans, offer competitive pricing on prescription medication and over the counter medicine.

Thunder Bay Community Health Service offers a discount prescription program for reduced costs on prescription medication. To be eligible for the Pharmacy Discount Program, individuals must be a current patient of a TBCHS provider.

TBCHS Atlanta and Onaway Pharmacies also offer a Prescription Savings Plan where select medications are available for $4.99/$10.99 for patients with a prescription from a TBCHS provider. Other discounts may be available.

TBCHS offers insurance enrollment assistance for Medcaid, the Health Insurance Mareketplace and other health insurance programs is available to the public at no cost. TBCHS provides interpretation / translation services and auxiliary aids for patients with disabilities or limited English capability. Transportation assistance is available for appointments at TBCHS.

Financial Savings

Discount plans are available for most services based on family size and income.

Insurance Participation

We participate with Medicare & Medicaid and most insurance plans.  As an additional benefit of being a TBCHS patient, there is no deductible for most Medicare covered services.
